Welcome to the Telluride Hiking Guide
Welcome to the new online companion to the Telluride Hiking Guide, the best local guidebook for finding your way on the trails in and around town. The San Juan Mountains are home to some of the most scenic and magical places you will ever explore, and Telluride is the ultimate place to start your journey.
These mountains are also rugged, and some of the routes and weather can be unforgiving. So arm yourself with the Telluride Hiking Guide before you set out, and visit our site often to get the most up-to-date information about the area. We hope you will share some of your own experiences and beta, too, and we welcome all your comments.
Happy trails!
This has long been my favorite hiking guide for the area. So glad to see this online companion to the book. Looking forward to lots of tips and stories throughout the summer!
My wife and I would love to be on your list for updates and would like a copy of your guide/history book on Telluride.
We’ll find a link! Thank you for your years of effort in documenting your findings to make it more convenient for fairly newcomers like us.

Susan:
My husband and I moved to Telluride 4 years ago and the first thing we did was buy your book. We’ve done almost every hike that doesn’t require a request for access across private property (mybe now that you have a blog you could provide updated contact information for the owners). Thank you so much for providing us with 4 summers of great hikes. We really love all the historical details that you provide.
Elizabeth
Larry, You’re still an inspiration. I think of the years you and Betty lived down the street from us, and the mobile library. How we enjoyed those precious books. We’ll catch up one of these days. Susan
Hi Tom,
You can purchase a book on this site under the “About” tab, by scrolling down to “About the Book.” There is a paypal button on that page, or you can go to Amazon and get the book there.
Thanks for your support!
Elizabeth, Thanks for your comments. We will keep adding information as we hike all summer. Susan
